AVA/ Counterbalance Racing presents the second annual Copper Cross, a South Seatac race to kick off the '08 cyclocross season. Specatator friendly course and prizes, prizes, prizes!!

12:10 pm - ~20 min (1 lap) - beginner Juniors (10-12, 13-14, 15-16)
1:20 pm - 45 min - Cat 3 men, SS
2:30 pm - 55 min - Masters 1-2 (35+, 45+), Pro 1-2 Men

Entry fee: Men $20, Women $15, all juniors $10, entry into additional races costs $5 (cash or check), USCF license required, must sign waiver. One day licenses will be available to purchase for $10. (Race proceeds used to support AVA/Counterbalance Racing Team) Race organizers reserve the right to combine categories.

Registration: Registration opens at 8:30 a.m. in the field area of the park; parking is available in the field, on the road and across the street from the park. The field will be open the entire day for cars entering and leaving. (Mountain bikes with no forward pointing bar ends are permitted.)

Prizes/Awards: Good stuff from Counterbalance Bicycles, Raleigh, Swobo, Earth Wind and Rider, IronClad Performance Wear, Evil, Meghan Hintz Massage Therapy, and more.

Course Description: Incorporates dirt and paved sections of the park, complete with short climbs and sand sections.

Directions: (Just under the South approach to SeaTac airport) From I-5 take the 200th exit and head west on 200th for approximately one-mile. The course and parking is on the south side of 200th at 18th Avenue South.

AVA/Counterbalance Bicycles will be hosting a Meet the Team ride on Saturday, October 13th.

If you're thinking of joining the team for the 2008 racing season, here's your chance to meet the members. Ride leaves from Pert's Deli in the Leschi neighborhood. Please be at Pert's by 9:20 for a 9:30 AM departure.

This will be a social ride, at a conversational pace, around the south end of Lake Washington. The ride may stop for 5-10 minutes along the way, but otherwise, be prepared for a continuous (~2 hour) ride.

AVA/Counterbalance Bicycles brings goldsprints to the 2007 Seattle Bike Expo!

What're goldsprints? Only the fastest race between stationary bike riders ever conceived! Here's how it works: two or more bikes are mounted to stationary rollers, which are in turn hooked up electronically to software that measures the speed of the turning rear wheel. Racers spin as fast as they can for a virtual distance, and win by being the first to complete that distance. Stats for each racer are projected on a screen so the crowd can monitor race progress. Very spectator friendly, very fun, not as easy as it looks! For more, check out the wikipedia article.

AVA/Counterbalance Bicycles strives to give those who find themselves on the fringe of the mainstream cycling community access to competitive amateur racing, excellent training guidance, and the chance to discover and stretch their physical limits as part of a like-minded team.

The founding focus for this team has been track racing at the Marymoor Velodrome. As a developing team, we are working toward building stronger Washington State road, cyclocross, and mountain bike racing programs.
